May Meeting Minutes

April minutes approved
Presidents Message:
Thanks for joining the Zoom Meeting!
No new business. Gordon S. has two potential members.
Plenty of Money. Budget on track for a “Normal Water” year.
Spending a bit more on maintenance than planned, no adjustments recommended.
June non-refundable insurance is due $1500. Motion approved.
 Work party went well. Thanks to those who participated. Mowing, Tules, Dock board
replacement/staining and course maintenance.
 North Gate Ball offset has been root caused to a missing piece of foam letting the PVC tube
lay over sideways when water is low.
 Wally Buoy’s ordered. Atmospheric pressure adequate
 County Open – Scott working on officials for Sept 25th. USAWS loosened boat rules, have
three in the club. Need to sanction, Russ will help.
 SCCWSC will not be sponsoring a Grand American day at LS 7/17-18. Saturday is 40 skiers
and will include head to head. Sunday will be 45 skiers.
6/11 and 8/27 for Friday Afternoon Tournaments. 20 skiers only will fill up fast.
Sargent of Arms:
All Insurance up to date. Next inspection is Scott Anger. Mish Chadwick needs to be
inspected for pond access

Public Relations:
 L2S – Looking less promising than last month. Open for idea’s for PR

Presidents Message:
– Thanks for joining the Zoom Meeting!
 – Welcome to new member Russ Selsor, Congratulations!
–  Normal ski year, normal budget, maintain facilities, normal work hours, normal meeting requirements for participation discount
– Membership not participating in meetings, very poor attendance last two meetings (with Zoom little excuse not to attend)
– Spring Clean Up w Work Day plan
– Grass needs to be mowed
– Course maintenance (purchase new boat guides, adjust height of all as needed)
-Gordon S will get with John Crivello to plan/schedule
– Lakeside booked both tournaments
– Offer to SCCWSC to run one
–  VP tournament need to reach out to officials, confirm can support/run, then
back to club to approve to run one
–  County Open: Scott Anger is to register. No status update
– Russ Selsor says we can probably get the $100 LATE fee waived
– Scott is to work with Russ
Sargent of Arms:
– All insurance and inspections up to date with exception of Mish
Members at Large:
– No report
Public Relations:
– L2S
– P&R: They have no idea at this point (not getting to people who understand
– B&G clubs: They don’t know if they will be open, will advise if a change
– Larry advised both we are able and willing. He will reach out to both again, but don’t expect that we’ll have any LTS this year due to continued Covid restrictions
Old Business:
– Railing was fixed by Parks and Rec.
New Business:
– None
– There is interest, but no concrete plans yet. Need more participation at meetings

Presidents Report: Considering replacing Yahoo groups with Google.

Pond Tournaments should not be impacted by Anderson. Fed decree may expedite fixing of the dam. Should be business as usual for this summer.

Dates set for Santa Clara Parks and Rec (6/24, 7/15, 8/12), B&G dates pending


Grand American Santa Clara @ Lakeside 7/18
Grand American Lakeside @ Lakeside 7/19
County Open @ Pond 9/26.
Fun tournaments will be August and September. One will be a fundraiser for Crones Foundation


Looking at different weights of buoys, have been tweaking buoy heights due to changing water level.
Need to replace one board on the steps. Tules on east side of launch ramp need thinning


Need picture of tag from Scott Graham. Rodas’ need updated inspection, Mark Normandin this month. Rest of club OK until June


2019 Budget closure pending banquet expenses. High expenditures were outhouse damage and 2X weekly service for three months. $235 over budget for 2019 to date.

2020 Budget, delaying some course improvements due to potential water issues. No $ for entertainment, charity, good of the club due to lower membership numbers/revenue to achieve balanced budget. Budget approved.


Need to update the roster – need the info from the board in order to update the roster pdf on the web server. Send to Daren 🙂

Pond is fully operational!!!!


Grand American July 18 & 19 . 18th is Lakeside’s and 19th is Santa Clara.

County Open – September TBD

CA Pro-Am – Weekend before Labor Day

Jerry is working on 2 FUN tournaments 8/22 & 9/12. 1 Round 8am, ski as you show up. Mini Course will be 4 passes, with flexibility for fun for the kids+ trophies. Motion carried.

33 singles, 2 families, 9 slackers… I mean in-actives, and 2 lifetimes


Expenses are rising, mostly the toilet. Should break even this year. No extra funds for entertainment. Tournaments need to make money – and or we need some sponsors like to step up. Raising dues tabled for 2020.
